KiDS OCean Workshops

In creative workshops, we want to convey the importance of the ocean for humans to children. We discuss problems and find solutions.
The topic of the workshops varies. Currently, we are looking at the problem of plastic pollution in the ocean and discussing with the children how we can all contribute to curbing the plastic problem effectively.
PARTNERSHIP with Sony Germany
Currently, we collaborate with Sony Germany and local partners (Bye Bye Plastik, Insel Sylt Tourismus Service) and the photographer Max Gödecke and organise kids ocean photo workshops.
The concept of the workshop is “From the perspective of a microplastic particle”. The workshop consists of a scientific and a creative part. We start with a discussion about the plastic problem, big and small, and talk about solutions to it.
In a second part, we get creative. The kids learn about the basics of photography. In an excursion to the beach, they can take the perspective of a microplastics particle and use the creative means of expression of photography for it.
At the end of the workshop, we discuss the creative results once more, and the children will choose their favorite photo and receive a printout to take home.
KIDs OCEAN WORKSHOP “VISIONS”
The first part of the workshop consists of scientific findings on the problem of plastic pollution and a discussion on what solutions exist for this. It will also focus on the ocean, its importance for humans and its inhabitants. In the second part, we will draw, paint, make things and create a common vision of how we can contribute to the recovery of the ocean.
